About the job

Design Engineer – Material Handling Equipment

Industry: Aggregate Processing & Bulk Material Handling

Location: Remote – United States

Start Date: Immediate

Package: Competitive salary + benefits

Kane Selection Ltd is representing an established US business specialising in aggregate-processing and bulk-material-handling equipment.

Our client is hiring a Design Engineer to support equipment and plant projects from initial specification and design through fabrication and installation.

The Opportunity

This role combines mechanical equipment design, project coordination and direct support for manufacturing and field installation.

You will develop equipment layouts, 3D models, fabrication drawings and bills of material for conveyors, processing equipment and supporting structures.

The position is fully remote. Initial in-person onboarding and occasional travel to company and customer locations will be required, with full details provided during the interview process.

You will:

  • Review new orders, specifications and technical requirements
  • Develop equipment layouts and complex 3D design models
  • Produce fabrication drawings, approval drawings and bills of material
  • Design conveyors, structures and associated material-handling equipment
  • Select motors, reducers, bearings, shafts, belts, chains and other purchased components
  • Work directly with fabrication personnel to resolve design and manufacturing questions
  • Support installation teams and resolve issues arising in the field
  • Visit customer facilities when required to verify measurements and existing conditions
  • Manage engineering projects from initial design through completion
  • Check models and drawings for completeness and accuracy

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone with:

  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Relevant experience in mechanical, equipment or industrial design
  • Strong 2D and 3D CAD capability, ideally using AutoCAD
  • Experience producing equipment layouts and fabrication drawings
  • Knowledge of mechanical power-transmission components
  • Experience working directly with fabrication or manufacturing teams
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver accurate work to project deadlines
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to interpret technical specifications and drawings
  • A valid driver’s licence
  • The ability to travel for initial onboarding and occasional project requirements

Experience with conveyors, bulk-material-handling systems, aggregate equipment, structural steel or heavy industrial machinery would be highly advantageous.

Direct aggregate-industry experience is preferred but not essential. Candidates from other relevant industrial-equipment and material-handling backgrounds will be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare design calculations, models, drawings and technical documentation
  • Develop equipment and structural layouts around customer requirements
  • Select mechanical components and prepare purchase requirements
  • Produce drawings for customer review and approval
  • Support projects through fabrication, installation and completion
  • Resolve design issues with shop and field personnel
  • Maintain accurate bills of material and project documentation
  • Ensure designs meet applicable safety and engineering standards

Package

This is a full-time, permanent position with an established and growing equipment business.

The package includes:

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Fully remote
  • Comprehensive benefits
  • Initial technical onboarding and training
  • Long-term development and progression opportunities

If you have experience designing conveyors, material-handling equipment, industrial machinery or fabricated systems, we would like to hear from you.
