Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Design Engineer / MEP Draftsman with strong electrical drafting experience to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for preparing, developing, and updating electrical and MEP drawings in accordance with project requirements, specifications, and applicable standards.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in electrical MEP drafting, shop drawings, coordination drawings, as-built drawings, and design documentation, preferably within construction or building services projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed electrical MEP drawings using AutoCAD and other relevant design software.
• Prepare shop drawings, coordination drawings, installation drawings, and as-built drawings.
• Develop electrical layouts including:
• Lighting layouts
• Small power layouts
• Power distribution
• Cable tray and cable routing
• Single Line Diagrams (SLD)
• DB schedules
• Earthing and lightning protection
• Low Current / ELV systems
• Fire alarm layouts
• Emergency lighting
• Review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings to identify design and coordination requirements.
• Coordinate electrical drawings with HVAC, plumbing, fire fighting, architectural, and structural services.
• Incorporate consultant/client comments and revise drawings accordingly.
• Prepare drawings based on approved design documents, specifications, and site requirements.
• Assist the engineering team in preparing material take-offs, BOQs, and technical documentation when required.
• Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and update drawings accordingly.
• Prepare accurate as-built drawings based on actual site installations.
• Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, authority requirements, and relevant electrical standards.
• Maintain proper drawing numbering, revision control, and documentation.
• Coordinate with site engineers, project engineers, consultants, and other departments to resolve drawing-related issues.
• Support the design team in preparing electrical design documentation and technical submissions.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering / Electrical Design / MEP Engineering.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience in electrical MEP drafting/design, preferably in the UAE.
• Strong experience in electrical MEP drafting and shop drawings.
• Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD is mandatory.
• Knowledge of Revit MEP / BIM will be an added advantage.
• Good understanding of electrical systems used in commercial, residential, industrial, or building projects.
• Ability to read and understand architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
• Knowledge of electrical load schedules, SLDs, DB schedules, cable sizing, and electrical layouts.
• Familiarity with UAE authority requirements and MEP standards is preferred.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with multiple disciplines.
• Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

• Strong Electrical MEP Drafting background.
• Experience in preparing shop drawings and coordination drawings.
• Knowledge of Revit MEP/BIM.
• Experience working with consultants and contractors.
• UAE project experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
• Candidates available in the UAE with a valid visa are preferred.
