What they need
Engineer the Product. Shape the Parts. Drive the Process.
At Milwaukee Forge, every forged part starts as an idea on an engineer's screen. We are looking for a Design Engineer who wants to see their work turn into real product on the shop floor, from the first customer conversation to the finished forging.
This is a hands-on engineering role with variety. You will support the quoting process, design dies and tooling, work directly with customers on technical needs, and partner with plant operations and quality to keep products moving. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will have real ownership and room to make an impact.
What You'll Do
- Design forged products to fit our production line capabilities and company standards
- Support sales through the quoting process, working with customers to understand technical needs and key design requirements
- Design dies, bolsters, gages, and other tooling and peripheral components
- Review and modify prints and models based on data analysis
- Develop and maintain process controls and procedures for key product lines
- Create and maintain drawings, specifications, and shop instructions for Milwaukee Forge and our customers
- Work directly with customers on design and quality issues or concerns
- Design and detail fixtures, devices, and special project components for the plant
- Manage engineering files and databases so they stay accurate and accessible to everyone who needs them
- Support ISO 9001:2015 initiatives and help drive continuous improvement
- Assist in planning engineering activities and keep supervisors and teams informed

- Experience programming CMMs or similar inspection methods is a strong plus, or the ability to learn quickly
- Exposure to both union and non-union work environments preferred

Skills & Work Style
- Clear communicator who works well with customers, plant personnel, and every department
- Strong organization, planning, problem solving, and follow-through
- Self-starter who works well with minimal direction and leads by example
- Team and results oriented, with a customer focus
- Flexible availability to meet the needs of the job
