About the Company:

A fast-growing AI company building the benchmarks that test whether frontier AI can actually do computational biology. Pharma and biotech companies, frontier AI labs, and solution providers rely on its benchmarks to evaluate and improve their AI systems.

About the Role:

The company is hiring a Design Engineer to design and build the experiences researchers use to understand, run, and contribute to its benchmarks. That includes both the internal platform a 60+ person team of bioengineers and AI biologists uses every day to build benchmark tasks, and the public-facing platform where the scientific community engages with the company's work.

Roughly half of the role is improving the internal platform. You'll find the problems that slow down its users, turn their feature requests into well-designed solutions, and ship them yourself. Because your users sit down the hall, you get immediate feedback on everything you ship. The other half is designing and building pages for the company website, including benchmark launches, product announcements, and company updates, translating complex technical work into clear, polished web experiences.

You'll work on a small team alongside a product designer, with significant control over the direction you take and the problems you tackle. No biology background is required. This is a good fit for someone who cares equally about how something works, how it looks, and how well it is built.

What You'll Do

• Identify usability and workflow problems across the internal platform and take solutions from idea through production
• Turn feature requests from internal users into thoughtful product improvements
• Develop new interaction patterns for complex product workflows
• Design and build the company website, landing pages, and launch experiences
• Shape how researchers interact with AI performance data

Strong Fit

• Designed and shipped products, interfaces, or websites that people love
• Strong visual, interaction, and product design judgment
• Fluency with modern HTML, CSS, TypeScript, and React
• Ability to move fluidly between design and implementation
• Ability to take loosely defined ideas through to production independently
• Experience designing and building polished marketing websites, landing pages, or launch experiences
• Ability to communicate complex technical products clearly through design
• Comfortable working through ambiguity, setting your own direction, and iterating quickly
• Around 5 years of experience designing and building products is ideal, but portfolio matters more than tenure

Nice to Have

• Data visualization or dashboard design experience
• Experience building internal tools, developer tools, or data platforms
