Position Summary:

This is a great entry level opportunity for a very capable design or mechanical engineer.

IDSI is looking for an individual with strong design and documentation fundamentals, passion, and creativity to join our development team. The position requires requirement-centric design and drafting skills to support product and project development from conceptual design through installation. The work is unique, technical and varied, and will consistently challenge you to be your best within a broader project team. This role requires close interaction and collaboration with other departments and project stakeholders. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, willing to learn, and ready to adapt to a fast-paced organization. Responsibilities and Skills:

• Design and document products while working as part of a cross functional team;
• Ensure safety, utility and functionality are all met in accordance with the customer requirements
• Design of products that can be accurately and efficiently constructed and used anywhere in the world
• Ability to translate lengthy and detailed specifications for product function into working displays that can be formally tested as meeting all requirements.
• SolidWorks Experience and hands-on mechanical and fabrication aptitude
• Working knowledge of drafting practices and manufacturing methods
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 a plus but not required
• 3D modeling of systems and associated 2D layout drawings
• Integrate local safety regulations and best practice ergonomic principles into the design so that the solutions can be safely installed and maintained with minimal down-time, over years and years of continual use.
• Be able to design with installation and maintenance in mind, and specify the scope of mechanical equipment required
• Calculate system component loads and structural limitations
• Calculate system thermal analysis experience a plus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent problem solving and time management skills
• Bachelor’s degree in a product design, architectural design or engineering discipline required; 2-5 years design experience a plus
• Ability and willingness to travel occasionally for short trips.
• High degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail
• Able to work within established timeframes/deadlines
• Able to effectively multitask across multiple projects as part of a cross functional team

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
