A well-established and growing engineering and construction business is seeking a Design Engineer to join its Limerick-based design team, delivering infrastructure projects across the water and wastewater sectors. The role offers an engineer the opportunity to develop their technical experience across water network design, working closely with project managers, construction teams, and experienced engineers on a range of infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of water network infrastructure projects
• Produce detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation using AutoCAD
• Support the preparation and review of design deliverables, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements
• Work closely with project managers, senior engineers, construction teams, and other stakeholders
• Assist in developing practical and cost-effective design solutions
• Provide technical input on design queries and project issues
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, specifications, and project requirements
• Support projects through the design, construction, and completion stages
• Review technical information and assist with design coordination across projects
• Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders as required
• Develop technical knowledge and experience across water and wastewater infrastructure projects

Requirements

• Relevant engineering qualification
• Experience in a design engineering role, ideally within civil engineering or infrastructure
• Experience in water network design – essential
• Proficient in AutoCAD
• Main contractor experience desirable
• Wastewater network experience highly desirable
• QGIS experience desirable
• Strong technical and problem-solving ability
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work as part of a wider engineering and project team
• Strong attention to detail and a willingness to take ownership of design deliverables
