Design Engineer

Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled Design Engineer with strong AutoCAD knowledge to prepare accurate designs and drawings for fire and safety systems. The role covers system design, shop drawings, calculations and approval documents, so that projects meet UAE Fire and Life Safety Code requirements and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design fire protection systems such as fire alarm, fire fighting, sprinkler, fire extinguisher and emergency lighting layouts.
• Prepare 2D drawings, layouts, shop drawings and as-built drawings using AutoCAD.
• Study architectural, MEP and structural drawings and coordinate the fire and safety design with them.
• Carry out design calculations, including hydraulic, pipe sizing, pump selection, detector and device quantities.
• Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ), material take-offs and technical data for estimation and tendering.
• Prepare and submit technical submittals, drawings and documents for Abu Dhabi Civil Defence and client approval, and incorporate comments.
• Ensure designs comply with the UAE Fire and Life Safety Code, NFPA standards and local authority regulations.
• Select suitable equipment and materials based on project requirements and budget.
• Visit sites for surveys and measurements, and support the installation team with technical clarifications.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, the sales team and the project team.
• Revise drawings promptly following client or authority comments and keep proper drawing records and revision control.
• Support testing, commissioning and handover documentation as required.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or Fire Protection Engineering.
• Minimum 2 to 5 years years of relevant experience in fire and safety design.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (2D). Knowledge of Revit, 3D modelling or hydraulic calculation software is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of NFPA codes, the UAE Fire and Life Safety Code and Civil Defence approval procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and MEP drawings.
• Working knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Strong attention to detail, with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team and meet deadlines.

Pay: AED2,500.00 - AED5,000.00 per month
