Design Engineer

Job highlights

• Proficient in SolidWorks 3D modeling and 2D drafting with expertise in Special Purpose Machine (SPM) design and GD&T principles
• Design and develop 3D models, 2D drawings, SPMs, fixtures, and tooling; prepare manufacturing documentation; coordinate with production teams; modify designs based on feedback

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
• Design Special Purpose Machines (SPM), mechanical assemblies, fixtures, jigs, and tooling.
• Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings with proper dimensions, tolerances, and surface finish requirements.
• Apply GD&T principles, including datum selection, geometric tolerances, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Select suitable materials and standard mechanical components, including bearings, motors, gearboxes, and pneumatic components.
• Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM), assembly drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
• Coordinate with production, manufacturing, and assembly teams to resolve design-related issues.
• Modify existing designs based on customer requirements and engineering feedback.
• Ensure designs are cost-effective and suitable for manufacturing and assembly.
• Maintain engineering drawings, design documentation, and revision records.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D modelling, part design, assembly, and 2D drafting.
• Practical knowledge of Special Purpose Machine (SPM) design and mechanical mechanisms.
• Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
• Knowledge of fits, clearances, tolerances, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Knowledge of standard mechanical components and material selection.
• Ability to read, interpret, and prepare engineering drawings.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, and coordination skills.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
