Purchasing Engineer

Location: 30 mins west of Cork City | Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

Are you an engineer with experience in CAD, manufacturing and costing who is looking for a varied role combining technical engineering with purchasing and supplier coordination?

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established engineering business in West Cork, supporting the design, development and delivery of specialist equipment and infrastructure for the agricultural and livestock sectors.

Working closely with engineering, production and suppliers, you will help ensure components, materials and technical specifications are aligned with project requirements, budgets and production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and interpret 2D and 3D manufacturing drawings using AutoCAD.
• Coordinate with suppliers and internal departments to source components and materials.
• Review technical drawings, specifications and component requirements.
• Monitor material availability, lead times and project milestones.
• Assist with engineering costing, budgets and cost optimisation.
• Support material standardisation and purchasing process improvements.
• Liaise with engineering, production and other teams to resolve technical and supply issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality and value throughout the manufacturing process.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience or qualifications in engineering, manufacturing, CAD or a related technical discipline.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, ideally covering both 2D and 3D drawings.
• An understanding of engineering components, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with costing, estimating or budget management.
• An interest in agriculture, livestock equipment or farm infrastructure would be an advantage.
• A full driving licence.
