Design Engineer – Formwork & Scaffolding

We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer – Formwork & Scaffolding with strong expertise in formwork systems, scaffolding systems, temporary works design, engineering calculations, and technical drawings.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing safe, practical, and cost-effective formwork and scaffolding solutions, preparing design calculations and shop drawings, and providing technical support to project teams during execution. The candidate should have strong knowledge of QCS requirements, engineering standards, construction methodologies, and HSE requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare formwork and scaffolding design drawings, shop drawings, layouts, and technical submissions.
• Prepare detailed design calculations and perform technical checks to ensure structural adequacy and safety.
• Develop material lists, quantity take-offs, and material requirement schedules.
• Prepare method statements for formwork and scaffolding works in coordination with the Project Engineer.
• Review project drawings, specifications, IFC drawings, and construction requirements to develop suitable formwork and scaffolding solutions.
• Conduct site inspections and follow up on project requirements and design implementation.
• Coordinate with Project Engineers, site teams, and operational teams regarding design requirements, revisions, and technical clarifications.
• Provide technical support for formwork and scaffolding design issues during project execution.
• Prepare technical enquiries for formwork and scaffolding materials and procurement.
• Review supplier technical proposals, catalogues, product data, and engineering documentation.
• Maintain records of design calculations, approved drawings, revisions, technical submissions, and engineering documentation.
• Ensure all designs comply with project specifications, company procedures, QCS requirements, applicable engineering standards, and HSE requirements.
• Support value engineering, cost optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Guide and coordinate with Draftsmen and Junior Design Engineers to ensure accurate and timely deliverables.

Key Requirements

• Strong knowledge of formwork systems, scaffolding systems, and temporary works design.
• Strong understanding of structural analysis, engineering calculations, and construction methodologies.
• Good knowledge of QCS requirements, engineering standards, and construction regulations.
• Ability to prepare and review technical drawings, shop drawings, and design calculations.
• Strong engineering, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent technical coordination and communication skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to provide practical engineering solutions for construction requirements.

Software Skills

Proficiency in:

• AutoCAD
• STAAD Pro
• SAP2000
• or equivalent structural/design engineering software
• Microsoft Office

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in formwork, scaffolding, temporary works design, and construction engineering.
• Proven experience in preparing engineering calculations, shop drawings, material take-offs, and technical submissions.
• Experience in coordinating with project/site teams and supporting construction execution.
• Professional engineering certification will be considered an advantage.
• UPDA/MMUP certification will be an added advantage.

Mandatory Requirements – Qatar

• Candidates currently available in Qatar are preferred.
• Valid QID (Qatar ID) is required.
• Candidates should have a valid NOC / transferable visa or be eligible for employment transfer in Qatar.
