  • Review project plans, calculations, and design documents for completeness, constructability, quality, and compliance with applicable engineering codes, standards, specifications, and organizational procedures.
  • Support senior engineers throughout all phases of project delivery, including planning, design, permitting, bidding, construction, and project closeout activities.
  • Provide engineering support during construction by reviewing contractor submittals, responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), evaluating field conditions, and assisting with design revisions as needed.
  • Participate in field investigations, bridge inspections, condition assessments, structural evaluations, and load ratings of existing transportation structures, including supporting Routine Bridge Inspections in accordance with the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS).
  • Support fabrication inspections and quality assurance activities for structural components incorporated into transportation infrastructure.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams, including roadway, geotechnical, hydraulic, traffic, construction, and environmental personnel, to support successful project delivery.
  • Maintain project files, engineering records, and technical documentation in accordance with organizational quality management procedures and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Participate in internal design reviews and implement review comments to improve the quality, accuracy, and consistency of engineering deliverables.
  • Develop technical knowledge and professional engineering skills through formal training, mentoring, and practical project experience to progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
