Design Engineer - Powertrain Sub-System (Engine Integration)

Job Purpose

• The Design Engineer - Powertrain Sub-System will be responsible for the design and integration of engine and powertrain sub-systems for two-wheeler applications.
• The role requires strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, hands-on experience in engine integration, CAD design, assembly modelling, GD&T, tolerance engineering, and engineering release processes.
• The incumbent will independently own assigned design activities from concept evaluation through engineering release, ensuring robust, manufacturable, serviceable, and cost-effective solutions.

Role & responsibilities

• Design and integrate engine and powertrain sub-systems within vehicle packaging and performance requirements.
• Perform engine integration studies, interface management, packaging evaluations, and assembly validation activities.
• Independently execute design activities from concept feasibility through engineering release.
• Create and manage complex 2D/3D CAD models, assemblies, layouts, and manufacturing drawings using Creo Parametric.
• Perform interference checks, clearance analysis, packaging verification, and tolerance assessments.
• Develop and maintain engineering drawings, BOMs, and product structures.
• Apply GD&T and perform dimensional chain and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Conduct DFMEA and implement DFM, DFA, and DFS methodologies.
• Perform basic mechanical engineering calculations related to strength, stiffness, factor of safety, fasteners, fits & tolerances, thermal effects, and assembly validation.
• Manage CAD data, engineering changes, and release activities through Windchill PLM.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Validation, Sourcing, Supplier Quality, and Vehicle Engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
