Design Engineer (R&D)

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and design new products, components, assemblies, and mechanical systems based on customer and project requirements.
• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
• Prepare accurate engineering drawings with proper dimensions, tolerances, material specifications, and GD&T where required.
• Modify and improve existing product designs to enhance performance, quality, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Conduct design calculations, basic engineering analysis, and feasibility studies for new and modified products.
• Develop prototypes and coordinate with production, fabrication, and testing teams for product development.
• Perform design reviews and identify potential issues related to functionality, assembly, manufacturing, and reliability.
• Select suitable materials, components, fasteners, and standard parts based on design and application requirements.
• Maintain and update engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and other technical documentation.
• Work closely with Production, Quality, Purchase, and Manufacturing teams to resolve design and technical issues.
• Support prototype testing, validation, and performance evaluation of newly developed products.
• Incorporate feedback from testing, manufacturing, and customers into design improvements.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, company specifications, and safety requirements.
• Assist in reducing manufacturing costs through design optimization, material optimization, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) practices.
• Maintain proper revision control and documentation of all design changes.
• Research new technologies, materials, components, and manufacturing methods relevant to product development.
• Provide technical support to production and resolve drawing/design-related problems during manufacturing.
• Participate in continuous improvement and new product development projects.

Required Skills

• Good working knowledge of SolidWorks including Part Modeling, Assembly, Drawing, and Sheet Metal.
• Understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of engineering materials, fits, tolerances, and GD&T.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly processes.
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as coordinate with cross-functional teams.
• Good communication and technical documentation skills.
• Knowledge of MS Office and basic engineering documentation.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
