Working Environment & Projects

You will join a design management team supporting a varied portfolio of medium-scale building projects, spanning commercial, residential and mixed-use developments. This variety offers broad exposure to different building types, design challenges and project teams.

The role offers involvement from pre-construction and design development through to construction and handover, working closely with architects, engineers, subcontractors and site delivery teams to ensure design information is coordinated, accurate and issued on programme.

The working culture is collaborative and hands-on, with strong support from experienced project leadership. The business offers a structured framework for progression, along with genuine exposure to the full project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Manage design coordination and information flow across medium-scale building projects from pre-construction through to completion
• Review and coordinate design information from architects, engineers and specialist subcontractors
• Identify and resolve design-related risks, buildability issues and coordination clashes
• Manage the RFI process, ensuring timely resolution of design queries
• Coordinate the design programme, ensuring information is issued in line with construction requirements
• Liaise with clients, design teams and site management to ensure design intent is maintained throughout delivery
• Support value engineering and technical reviews throughout the project lifecycle
• Ensure design compliance with building regulations, planning conditions and project specifications

What You Need

• Proven experience as a Design Manager, or in a similar design coordination role, within construction
• Experience delivering medium-scale commercial, residential or mixed-use building projects
• Strong understanding of design coordination, RFI management and buildability principles
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Relevant degree qualification in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline
• Proficiency with design coordination or BIM tools is an advantage
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple design workstreams
