An established international engineering and construction contractor is seeking an experienced Design Manager (M&E) currently based in London or elsewhere in the UK to relocate to Jakarta, Indonesia and lead the mechanical and electrical design delivery of a major data centre project.

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced M&E Design Manager to take on a significant international data centre project while benefiting from a comprehensive relocation package.

The successful candidate will lead the mechanical and electrical design process from concept through construction, commissioning and handover, coordinating consultants, contractors, specialist suppliers and client stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the full M&E design process throughout project delivery.
• Coordinate design consultants, specialist subcontractors and equipment suppliers.
• Review and manage mechanical and electrical design deliverables.
• Ensure designs meet project specifications, client requirements and industry standards.
• Drive design optimisation around resilience, efficiency, constructability and cost.
• Oversee the integration of:
• HV and LV electrical infrastructure
• UPS and battery systems
• Standby generators and fuel systems
• CRAH, CRAC, chilled water and free-cooling systems
• Liquid-cooling systems
• BMS, EPMS and DCIM
• Fire detection and suppression
• Telecommunications and structured cabling
• Act as the primary M&E design contact for clients and project teams.
• Chair design workshops and technical coordination meetings.
• Work closely with construction and commissioning teams.
• Support technical procurement and supplier selection.
• Identify and mitigate design and technical risks.
• Manage design changes and change control.
• Monitor design progress against programme milestones.
• Support commissioning, testing and operational readiness.
• Support handover and project close-out.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as an M&E Design Manager or senior M&E design professional.
• Strong data centre or mission-critical project experience.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary M&E design teams.
• Strong knowledge of Tier III and Tier IV design principles.
• Experience within design-and-build or EPC environments.
• Strong knowledge of critical power and cooling infrastructure.
• Experience with HV/LV systems, UPS and generators.
• Experience with chilled water, CRAH, CRAC, free cooling or liquid cooling.
• Understanding of BMS, EPMS and DCIM.
• Experience supporting commissioning and operational readiness.
• Strong stakeholder management and client-facing skills.
• Willingness to relocate from London/the UK to Jakarta.
