• I'm currently working with a leading main contractor who is looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to join their team on a number of residential projects in Dublin. This is a long-term opportunity to join an established team and take responsibility for design coordination through the delivery stage of projects.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and coordinating the design process, working closely with consultants, architects, subcontractors and site teams to ensure design information is coordinated, buildable and delivered in line with the project programme.

The Role

• Manage and coordinate the design process across residential construction projects.
• Work closely with the site, commercial and project management teams throughout the delivery stage.
• Coordinate design information between architects, engineers, consultants and subcontractors.
• Review design information and ensure it is aligned with construction requirements.
• Identify and resolve design and technical issues as they arise.
• Manage the flow of design information to ensure the project programme is maintained.
• Coordinate design changes and ensure relevant information is communicated to the wider project team.
• Work closely with consultants and subcontractors to ensure design requirements are understood and delivered.
• Review drawings, specifications and technical information.
• Ensure design information is suitable for construction and practical delivery on site.
• Support the site team with technical queries and design-related issues.
• Maintain strong communication between the design team and site teams.
• Assist with the coordination of external works and associated design requirements.
• Ensure design deliverables are completed in line with project deadlines.
• Approximately 95% of the role will be focused on project delivery, with 5% focused on pre-construction.

Requirements

• Minimum 3+ years' experience in a Design Manager or similar role.
• Previous experience working within a main contractor environment.
• Strong residential construction experience.
• External works / externals experience is essential.
• Strong understanding of the design and construction process.
• Experience coordinating architects, engineers, consultants and subcontractors.
• Strong technical and design coordination skills.
• Ability to identify and resolve design issues throughout project delivery.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work closely with both site and commercial teams.
• Degree in Architectural Technology, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
