Overview

E Collinson & Co Ltd is a long-established, family-run UK manufacturer specialising in the design and manufacture of smooth-walled steel silos and associated products for the agricultural sector.

We are looking for an organised, proactive and confident Design Office Coordinator to join our Production Design department.

The Role

This is a newly created position, providing an important link between our Design team and other departments across the business.

You will be the first point of contact for Design Office requests, helping to organise and coordinate workloads, track progress and ensure information is accurate and available when needed.

You'll work closely with our Design Management Team, Production Managers, Costing and Product Compliance, making sure requests are allocated, outstanding actions are followed up and work progresses through to completion.

We're looking for someone who enjoys keeping things organised, is confident communicating with colleagues at all levels and takes ownership of getting things done.

This is an administrative and coordination role within a technical environment, rather than a hands-on design or engineering position.

Key Responsibilities

Workload Coordination

  • Act as the first point of contact for design requests, production queries and engineering changes.
  • Gather information, confirm priorities and coordinate the allocation of work across the Design team.
  • Maintain work trackers, monitoring requests, progress and deadlines.
  • Follow up outstanding work and identify delays or issues requiring management attention.

Documentation and Change Control

  • Administer engineering change requests, including Change Control Notices (CCNs) and Special Production requests (SPs).
  • Coordinate drawings, bills of materials (BOMs) and supporting technical documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of revisions, approvals and completed work.
  • Ensure the correct information is available and communicated to the relevant departments.

Communication and Project Support

  • Liaise with Production, Costing, Product Compliance and other departments to obtain information and resolve queries.
  • Prepare information for design reviews and approvals.
  • Record decisions, track actions and follow up outstanding requirements.
  • Provide general administrative and coordination support to the Design department and engineering projects.

About You

Essential

  • Previous experience in an engineering, manufacturing or technical office environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to follow up outstanding work and deadlines.
  • A proactive approach, with the confidence to take ownership of tasks and recognise when issues need escalating.
  • Strong attention to detail and good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.

Desirable

  • Experience in an engineering design office or CAD/CAM environment.
  • Understanding of bills of materials (BOMs), manufacturing processes or engineering change control.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication or steel manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems or technical documentation.

Benefits

  • 27 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Workplace pension scheme
  • Free on-site parking
  • Subsidised on-site canteen
  • Free use of our on-site fitness suite
  • Subsidised on-site yoga and Pilates classes
  • Modern office facilities

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to join an established, growing manufacturing business and take ownership of a newly created role within our Design department.

You'll work with colleagues across the business, helping to improve organisation, communication and the efficient running of the Design Office.

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Canteen
  • Casual dress
  • Discounted or free food
  • Free parking
  • On-site parking

Application question(s):

  • Do you have previous experience working in an engineering, manufacturing or technical office environment?
  • Have you been responsible for coordinating workloads, tracking requests or maintaining administrative records?
  • What experience do you have using Microsoft Excel and working with technical documentation?
