Design Officer

About the role

Responsible for coordinating engineering design, site assessments, and technical documentation for construction, renovation, and facilities improvement projects. Ensures the accuracy, quality, and compliance of engineering plans while coordinating with architects, engineers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to meet project requirements and timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections and assess project requirements, existing conditions, and potential constraints
• Prepare site assessment reports and pre-construction documentation
• Prepare and review CAD drawings, engineering plans, shop drawings, and as-built plans
• Ensure drawings meet approved specifications, technical standards, and project requirements
• Coordinate design revisions, technical reviews, and plan approvals with architects and engineers
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and internal departments on design requirements and project deliverables
• Monitor drawing submissions, revisions, and approvals to meet project timelines
• Maintain accurate, updated, and organized hard-copy and electronic engineering documents
• Ensure proper version control, distribution, and safekeeping of approved plans
• Prepare project status reports and technical documentation

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably Civil Engineering or a related field
• At least two (2) years of relevant experience
• Proficient in CAD software, SketchUp, and other engineering design tools
• Knowledgeable in engineering drawings, measurements, technical specifications, and construction standards
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
• Able to manage multiple assignments, coordinate with stakeholders, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
