We are seeking an accomplished Project Design Manager to lead multidisciplinary design teams and coordinate complex engineering and construction activities on major data centre developments.

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of design delivery on high-value projects, working with engineering teams, consultants, contractors and key stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest technical standards. If you combine strong engineering knowledge with proven leadership, commercial awareness and a track record in data centre delivery, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams across large-scale data centre and mission-critical projects.
  • Oversee the design process from initial development through detailed design, construction and commissioning.
  • Coordinate electrical, mechanical, security, monitoring and fire detection and suppression systems.
  • Manage design deliverables, technical interfaces, programme milestones and project requirements.
  • Work closely with clients, consultants, contractors and internal project teams to resolve technical and design challenges.
  • Review design proposals, identify value engineering opportunities and drive efficient, buildable solutions without compromising safety or quality.
  • Support contract negotiations and manage design-related commercial considerations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, local regulations, jurisdictional standards and industry best practices.
  • Monitor design progress, identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, project updates and design documentation to key stakeholders.
  • Promote collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement across project teams.
  • Undertake domestic and international travel as required.

What We're Looking For:

  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Typically 5–10 years' experience in data centre, mission-critical engineering, design management, construction or commissioning.
  • A proven track record delivering large-scale projects valued at €100 million or more.
  • Experience with Design & Build and/or Design/Bid/Build project delivery models.
  • Demonstrable experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing cross-functional projects.
  • Strong technical understanding of electrical and mechanical building systems, security and monitoring systems, and fire detection and suppression.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of design coordination, construction processes, technical documentation and contract requirements.
  • Familiarity with local building regulations, codes and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness, negotiation skills and the ability to identify practical value engineering opportunities.
  • A methodical, detail-oriented approach, with integrity, resilience and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Excellent written, reading and spoken English.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Lead the design delivery of major data centre and mission-critical developments.
  • Work alongside experienced engineering, construction and project management professionals.
  • Influence technical decisions, design strategy and project outcomes.
  • Gain exposure to complex, high-value international projects.
  • Develop your leadership, commercial and technical expertise within a growing sector.
  • Progress your career within the specialist data centre and mission-critical construction market.
