About the Role

Winder Gibson Architects is seeking a talented, self‑motivated Designer/Drafter (Junior or Intermediate) to work on custom single‑family and multifamily residential projects throughout the Bay Area. You’ll collaborate with Project Managers, Job Captains, and Principals to help bring design‑driven projects from conception through completion in a team‑based, highly collaborative studio.

What You’ll Do

  • Support Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration (SD, DD, CD, CA).
  • Perform project research, 3D modeling, visualization, and feasibility studies.
  • Draft, model, render, and prepare coordinated presentation materials.
  • Assist with code research, building systems understanding, construction detailing, and plan‑check coordination.

Your First 90 Days

  • Learn WGA’s design/documentation standards, software, systems, and processes.
  • Meet one‑on‑one with all members of the firm and discuss your professional interests and goals with firm leaders.
  • Begin contributing to design and documentation on active projects.

Growth & Opportunities

  • Receive mentoring and participate in peer‑to‑peer knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate on design teams delivering creative, sustainable, and impactful projects.
  • Engage in professional development and training toward licensure or future project leadership.
  • Contribute energy, ideas, and expertise that help the firm grow and evolve.

What You’ll Bring

  • Accredited degree in Architecture (M.Arch or 5‑year B.Arch). Interior Architecture degrees considered.
  • 1–2 years of architecture office experience.
  • Exposure to single‑family and multifamily residential work (interiors a plus).
  • Solid foundation in construction types, building systems, detailing, and codes, especially wood‑framed residential.
  • Strong Revit proficiency (required)—we are an all‑Revit office and expect you to be productive on day one.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Excel appreciated.
  • Ability to communicate ideas through freehand sketches and physical/3D models.
  • Excellent verbal, written, graphic, and professional email communication.
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks/projects and maintain progress across several workstreams.
  • Detail‑oriented with accurate, succinct, and complete output.
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
  • Licensure not required; progress toward licensure appreciated.

Work Setup & Hours

  • Full‑time role in a hybrid workplace (most staff split time between home and office).
  • Our physical office is open and available for those who prefer in‑person work.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: Based on experience.
  • Full benefits package and WGA’s vacation practices are available upon request.
  • Regular performance reviews with salary increases tied to performance.
