Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is the country's largest employer, delivering universal public healthcare to 5 million New Zealanders.
We provide essential hospital, specialist, and community health services across 80+ locations - from large urban centres to rural towns and remote communities.
Our goal is to improve health outcomes for all New Zealanders by delivering equitable, accessible and innovative care.
About the Role
As a Deskside Engineer, you will be a hands-on problem solver, helping keep Health NZ's digital workspaces running smoothly and ensuring healthcare teams have the technology they need to deliver quality care. You will be responsible for deploying, configuring, maintaining and supporting a range of technology across hospital and healthcare environments throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. From troubleshooting day-to-day technical issues and resolving hardware and software problems to supporting the implementation of new technology solutions, you will help ensure systems remain reliable, secure and available when they are needed most. Your work will play an important role in minimising disruptions, improving the technology experience for staff and supporting the smooth operation of frontline healthcare services.
Working closely with senior engineers, technical specialists and wider support teams, you will contribute to maintaining a stable and efficient digital environment while identifying opportunities to improve services and resolve recurring technical issues. This is an opportunity to strengthen your technical expertise, develop your problem-solving skills and make a meaningful contribution to the technology that supports healthcare delivery across New Zealand. We are also looking for people to join our Digital Services on-call pool, providing additional technical support outside normal business hours when required. As part of the on-call roster, you will help respond to after-hours issues and support service continuity, ensuring that critical technology services remain available to the teams who depend on them.
About the Team/Service/ Location

Your work will contribute directly to the smooth delivery of healthcare by providing hands-on technical support and ensuring staff have the tools they need to deliver quality care to patients and communities.
Our impact extends beyond individual hospitals and health facilities. We are building strong digital foundations that support communities across Aotearoa through innovation, national standards and reliable technology infrastructure. This role offers an opportunity to be part of a team that helps shape the future of digital health in New Zealand while working across different sites and supporting a diverse range of users and technologies.

- A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn, develop, and grow your technical skills
