Deskside Support Engineer

About the role

E.C. Fix Technology Limited is seeking a Deskside Support Engineer to join our growing support team on a full-time basis, based in Hong Kong Island. In this role, you will be the frontline technical support professional, providing hands-on hardware and software assistance directly to our end users. You will be instrumental in ensuring that our clients' IT infrastructure operates smoothly and efficiently, whilst maintaining the highest standards of customer service and technical excellence. This position is critical to our mission of delivering reliable technology solutions and maintaining strong relationships with our valued clients.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on-site and deskside technical support to end users, diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues in a timely manner
• Install, configure and maintain computer hardware components, peripherals and related equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair desktop computers, laptops, printers, monitors and other IT equipment
• Perform routine maintenance tasks including software updates, patches and system optimisations
• Create and manage user accounts, manage file permissions and handle password resets
• Document all support calls and technical issues in the ticketing system with clear and accurate information
• Respond promptly to support requests and maintain service level agreements
• Collaborate with other IT team members to resolve complex technical issues and escalate when necessary
• Assist with hardware inventory management and asset tracking
• Provide user training and guidance on IT best practices and system usage

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a Deskside Support Engineer, IT Support Technician or similar role, ideally with 2-3 years of hands-on technical support experience
• Strong knowledge of hardware troubleshooting and repair, including desktop and laptop computers
• Proficiency with Windows and/or macOS operating systems
• Experience with hardware peripherals such as printers, monitors, networking devices and mobile devices
• Familiarity with IT ticketing systems and support documentation practices
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work methodically through technical issues
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users
• Customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering exceptional service
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple support requests simultaneously
• Relevant IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified or equivalent are highly desirable
• Flexibility to work occasional after-hours or weekend support as needed
