Desktop Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Desktop Support / IT Technician to provide technical support for end users, maintain IT infrastructure, and ensure the smooth operation of computer systems, networks, and peripheral devices. The ideal candidate should possess strong troubleshooting skills, customer service orientation, and the ability to resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first-level technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and other IT peripherals.
• Install, configure, and maintain Windows operating systems and business applications.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot Microsoft Office, Outlook, antivirus, and other standard software.
• Configure and support printers, network devices, and shared resources.
• Manage user accounts, passwords, email configurations, and access permissions.
• Perform installation, configuration, and maintenance of desktop and laptop hardware.
• Monitor system performance and perform preventive maintenance.
• Maintain inventory of IT assets, including laptops, desktops, monitors, accessories, and software licenses.
• Coordinate with vendors for warranty claims, repairs, and equipment replacement.
• Assist in setting up workstations for new employees.
• Support conference room equipment, video conferencing systems, and projectors.
• Perform regular data backup and recovery activities.
• Ensure compliance with IT security policies and maintain endpoint security.
• Escalate complex technical issues to higher-level IT support when necessary.
• Document technical issues, resolutions, and asset movements.
• Provide technical assistance during office relocations or infrastructure changes.
• Support basic LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and internet connectivity issues.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma/Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or a related field.
• 14 years of experience in Desktop Support, IT Helpdesk, or Technical Support.
• Knowledge of Windows 10/11, Microsoft Office Suite, and Outlook.
• Basic understanding of Active Directory, networking concepts, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
• Experience with printer configuration and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with hardware assembly, upgrades, and maintenance.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple support requests.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Office 365 administration.
• Knowledge of remote desktop support tools.
• Basic understanding of server administration and virtualization.
• Experience with antivirus management and endpoint security solutions.
• Knowledge of CCTV, biometric devices, and access control systems is an added advantage.
