DESKTOP SYSTEMS SPECIALIST-ADVANCED
Plains Cotton Cooperative Association
Lubbock, Texas
About PCCA
PCCA is a marketing cooperative owned by farmers in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and New Mexico dedicated to supplying sustainably-grown, high-quality cotton fiber around the world. PCCA also owns cotton warehouse facilities in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. In addition to cotton marketing and warehousing services, PCCA provides innovative technology solutions to gins that help add more value to our grower-owners’ cotton.
Position Purpose
We are seeking a Desktop Systems Specialist (Advanced) to join our IT Operations team. This role is a hybrid of high-touch end-user support and backend infrastructure maintenance. You will be responsible for the health of our Dell-based hardware ecosystem, ensuring seamless connectivity across our LAN/WAN, maintain the integrity of our data through Veeam backup services, and be responsible for our print servers and print management of gins and end users.
This is a "boots-on-the-ground" role that requires a technician who is equally comfortable troubleshooting a network switch as they are configuring a C-suite executive's conference room for a high-stakes video call.
What You Will Do
1. Hardware & Endpoint Management
- Lifecycle Support: Deploy, configure, and maintain Dell OptiPlex desktops and Latitude/Precision laptops, Samsung tablets, Apple iphones and ipads.
- Hardware Repair: Perform onsite diagnostics and hardware repairs (RAM, SSD, screen replacements) and coordinate with Dell ProSupport for warranty escalations.
- Dell Hardware & Windows Ecosystem:
- Provide expert-level support, maintenance, and lifecycle management for Dell PCs and laptops.
- Lead and execute Windows 10/11 operating system upgrades, migrations, patching, and performance tuning.
- Installation Services: Must have ability to install network equipment, ethernet cable runs, TV and monitor wall installations and general physical installations.
- Tier 2/3 Support & Escalation: Serve as a primary escalation resource for complex, unresolved helpdesk tickets, delivering root-cause analysis and advanced troubleshooting across hardware, software, and network layers.
2. Infrastructure & Directory Services
- LAN/WAN Connectivity: Troubleshoot desktop-to-wall-jack connectivity, including patch cable management and basic switch port configuration.
- Active Directory: Manage user objects, security groups, and organizational units (OUs). Perform routine password resets and account lock-out resolutions.
- Print Server & Print Management:
- Manage and maintain enterprise print servers and print queues.
- Deploy, configure, and add network and local printers to servers and end-user workstations.
- Troubleshoot complex printing issues encompassing USB-connected devices, network-attached printers, local print jobs, and system-wide printing failures.
- Networking & Connectivity:
- Diagnose and resolve LAN and WAN network connectivity issues, collaborating with network administrators when necessary to isolate and fix bottlenecks, routing issues, or hardware failures.
3. Data Protection & Recovery
- Backup Monitoring: Monitor daily backup jobs via Veeam Backup & Replication to ensure 100% success rates for critical workstations and local file shares.
- Disaster Recovery: Execute file-level and full-system restores upon user or management request.
- Health Checks: Perform regular testing of backup integrity to ensure compliance with company RTO/RPO objectives.
4. Audio-Visual (AV) & Collaboration
- Conference Room Support: Provide "white-glove" setup and troubleshooting for AV equipment, including projectors, integrated mics, and large-format displays.
- Virtual Meetings: Support Zoom/Teams/Webex rooms, ensuring integrated hardware (Logitech, Poly, or Crestron) is updated and operational.
5. Helpdesk Support
- Helpdesk: Take calls on the Helpdesk to support our gins and internal clients with superior technical support.
- Level 2/3 Support: Act as Level 2/3 support for our general Helpdesk technicians by assisting with complex configurations and/or solutions.
Technical Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in a desktop support, print server management, network or systems administration role.
- Systems: Advanced knowledge of Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365 apps.
- Tools: Proficiency with Active Directory Users & Computers and backup services (i.e. Veeam Backup and Recovery).
- Networking: Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN troubleshooting.
- Print Server Management: Advanced knowledge of print server management including adding printer and printer troubleshooting for system printing.
- Hardware: Specific expertise in Dell hardware architecture and BIOS management.
Preferred Certifications
- CompTIA A+ or Network+
- Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate
- Veeam Certified User (VCP) or similar training
