JOB DESCRIPTION

• In the Maritime Research Centre (MOC) in Ostend, Flanders Hydraulics Research has a second tow truck. It was delivered with only control software for the tow truck and software for safety (ISMS).

• To carry out tests with the tow truck, an overarching management system is needed. In addition, developments are also needed to be able to carry out tests with the tow truck in a safe and efficient way (e.g. return route, dealing with error messages, etc.).
• To develop this trial execution software professionally and future-proof, and to keep track of the ownership and version management of the developed software, a specialized IT profile is needed.
• PUSO is seen as a long-term project for which time will be needed for the development of a new functionality and for which a (limited) permanent activity is required for the ownership of the application.
• You are a solid software developer. You take on tasks independently, have the discipline to shape your own projects and take the necessary initiatives to make your assigned tasks a success in collaboration with the team and the clients. You do this in close collaboration with the team and the clients, with the client and the team indicating the conceptual direction and frameworks, and you taking care of the technical design and elaboration within that vision. Good analytical skills and structured work are a prerequisite for this.
• You want to learn constantly and you like to share your knowledge with your colleagues.
• You have a healthy dose of assertiveness and are not afraid to ask the necessary questions and bring up new ideas. You are a good communicator and bridge builder who can easily work independently and can work together in a team to find solutions. You can express yourself fluently in Dutch and English.
• Interest in the ins and outs of the maritime world is a bonus.

CONTEXT

• Standard place of employment is full-time, initially onsite (Maritime Research Centre Ostend, Wetenschapspart 8, 8400 Ostend), with occasional team meetings at Flanders Hydraulics Research in Antwerp.
