Development & Fundraising Director – CADY

Job Summary

**** The Development & Fundraising Director will lead CADY’s fundraising and development efforts, with responsibility for securing the funding needed to establish the institution and support its long-term sustainability. The role will develop and execute fundraising strategies across philanthropy, corporate partnerships, private capital, and development-partner grants. The successful candidate will also build strong relationships with donors and partners, grow the CADY Endowment Trust, and work closely with the finance team to align fundraising with the programme’s financial plan.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute CADY’s overall fundraising and development strategy.
• Identify and pursue funding opportunities across philanthropy, corporates, private capital, and grants.
• Build and manage a strong pipeline of development partners and funding opportunities.
• Develop relationships with major donors and secure significant funding commitments.
• Lead efforts to grow the CADY Endowment Trust and secure seed commitments.
• Secure sponsorship and private capital in line with programme milestones.
• Manage relationships with donors, sponsors, and development partners.
• Ensure donor reporting and grant compliance requirements are properly managed.
• Work closely with the finance team to align fundraising activities with CADY’s five-year financial model and capital requirements.
• Prepare compelling funding proposals, grant applications, and other development materials.
• Track fundraising progress and ensure funding targets are being actively managed.

Skills and Qualifications

• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in institutional advancement, fundraising, development finance, or grants.
• A proven track record of securing major gifts or grants at significant scale .
• Strong networks across philanthropy, corporate organisations, development partners, and other funding communities.
• Excellent proposal and grant-writing skills.
• Strong pipeline management and the ability to identify, develop, and convert funding opportunities.
• Excellent relationship-building and donor stewardship skills.
• The confidence and credibility to engage with senior leaders, principals, boards, donors, and funding partners.

It will be an added advantage if you have

• Experience raising funds for education, the arts, or the creative economy .
• Familiarity with development-partner processes and Nigerian or African philanthropy.
• Experience working with major foundations, corporates, or international development organisations.
• A relevant university degree or professional qualification in fundraising, advancement, or a related field.
