Development and Program Director
Position Type: Full time, exempt. Part time may be considered for the right candidate.
Location: Carbondale, Colorado office
Reports to: Executive Director
Application Deadline: October 15, 2026
Target Start Date: November 10, 2026
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Development and Program Director to lead our organization’s fundraising initiatives, program development, and community engagement efforts. This vital role combines visionary leadership with hands-on management of donor relations, grant writing, and event planning. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for advancing our mission through innovative strategies, exceptional relationship management, and effective resource development. As a key member of our leadership team, you will drive growth by cultivating major gifts, managing comprehensive fundraising campaigns, and overseeing program implementation to maximize impact. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our organization while fostering meaningful connections within the community.
Make Every Week Count
Every week looks different in this role, and that is the point. One day you are closing a grant that funds financial literacy for thousands of students. The next you are coordinating with a middle school teacher to promote the Civics Bee. If you love variety, thrive on relationships, and want your work to change young lives across the Roaring Fork Valley and Colorado, this role is for you.
Youthentity is seeking a dynamic Development and Program Director to grow our fundraising, lead our Financial Literacy programs, and build our new Regional Civics Bee. This senior leadership role blends donor relations, grant writing, program management, and team leadership, all in service of helping young people become Money Smart and Career Ready.
Why This Role Matters
Last year, Youthentity reached over 8,200 students across 104 schools. Students in our financial literacy programs gain an average 33% increase in financial knowledge, and our Career Academies achieve 100% certification rates. As Development and Program Director, you will fuel that impact and help us reach even more students statewide.
What You Will Do
Development and Fundraising
- Shape and lead a comprehensive fundraising strategy for corporate, foundation, and individual giving, in partnership with the Executive Director.
- Develop and manage the annual fundraising plan, calendar, and budget, including annual campaigns, year-end appeals, and Colorado Gives Day.
- Grow the major gifts program by researching, cultivating, and stewarding a portfolio of donors.
- Build corporate partnerships and event sponsorships.
- Research, write, and submit new and renewal grant applications and reports on time and with accuracy.
- Help lead signature events, including the Annual Pig Roast.
- Support board members in their fundraising roles and staff the development committee.
- Oversee donor acknowledgment and appreciation so every supporter feels the impact of their gift.
- Gather student stories, photos, and short videos to power donor communications, social media, and impact reports.
- Maintain accurate development records in Neon CRM and report fundraising results to the Executive Director and board.
Program Leadership and Management
- Lead and actively engage in the Financial Literacy and Civics Bee programs.
- Lead a team of two to four remote staff from our Carbondale office.
- Grow the Greater Roaring Fork Valley Regional Civics Bee, including program coordination, school and family outreach, and event execution.
- Measure program outcomes and turn data into compelling, grant ready impact reports.
- Manage student and program data in our CRM system.
Team Player
Youthentity runs on a small, highly collaborative staff. You will support other programs and events as needed, and your colleagues will do the same for you. This description outlines core responsibilities but does not include every possible duty. Management may update it as needs evolve.
You Will Thrive Here If
- You get energy from switching gears and no two days feel the same.
- You see fundraising as relationship building, not transactions.
- You love building something new and watching it grow.
- You are passionate about serving the youth in our community.
- You roll up your sleeves when a teammate needs a hand.
