What they need

Company Description Everett Community Growers, Inc. (ECG) is a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to building a more just and equitable environment through urban agriculture and related initiatives. The organization focuses on empowering youth, advancing policy advocacy, and strengthening community engagement. ECG supports local residents in accessing safe and welcoming spaces, healthy food, and leadership opportunities. Team members collaborate with community partners to promote sustainable practices and social justice in Everett and surrounding areas.

Role Description ECG is looking to select a qualified, self-directed freelance Development Coordinator to build our fundraising infrastructure from the ground up, manage upcoming seasonal campaigns, and support our grant development lifecycle. This hybrid position is based in Everett, MA, with a mix of on-site and remote work.

The selected contractor will focus on executing specific, high-priority fundraising milestones with complete autonomy over scheduling and working methods:

Holistic Fundraising Strategy

  • Facilitate the development of a strategic fundraising plan for ECG alongside ECG staff and Board of Directors, including 3-5 innovative strategies to engage individual donors and foundations, including a strategy for new donors, LYBUNTs, and SYBUNTs.

Data Management System

  • Research, select, and configure our first donor data management system.
  • Consolidate and clean existing contact lists from scattered files.
  • Execute initial data import and set up donation-acknowledgment workflows.

Grants & Funder Research

  • Build a centralized grant tracking calendar.
  • Set up internal protocol for grant review, proofing, and submissions.
  • Conduct prospect research to identify a comprehensive list of aligned foundations, corporate funders, state/local funding sources, and individual donors.
  • Develop a variety of pitches and boilerplate language for the major segments of ECG’s work.
  • Raise at least $50,000 in new dollars.

Qualifications

  • Strong Communication and Writing skills to prepare donor outreach, grant materials, and clear internal updates.
  • Customer Service skills to build and maintain positive relationships with donors, partners, and community members.
  • Project Management abilities to organize development activities, meet deadlines, and coordinate events or campaigns.
  • Fundraising experience, including donor stewardship, grant support, or campaign coordination.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, with reliable access to remote work tools and on-site presence in Everett, MA.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with common office software (specifically Google Workspace, used exclusively by ECG) and donor or CRM databases.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, community engagement, and social or environmental justice.
  • Relevant education or experience in nonprofit development, communications, or a related field is preferred.
