Development Director - Data Centres

About the Company

I'm representing a new start-up looking to develop data centre projects across Australia - backed by a well-financed Investor. 

About the Role
You will be responsible for taking data centre developments from initial concept and site identification through to development approvals, up to the point of construction. You will contribute to all aspects of the development lifecycle, working across site selection, due diligence, planning, environmental approvals, infrastructure requirements and stakeholder engagement. Data centre development experience is essential and you must be comfortable working autonomously in a small, start-up environment. There is flexibility to be based anywhere in Australia, depending upon experience. 

Responsibilities

• Initiate and lead development of hyperscale data centre projects across Australia
• Source and assess potential development sites
• Lead feasibility and due diligence activities covering planning, environmental, land, utilities, power, access and wider infrastructure considerations
• Oversee the approvals pathway, coordinating planning applications, environmental assessments and engagement with relevant authorities
• Engage and manage external consultants to deliver technical investigations, reports and key project milestones
• Develop and maintain productive relationships with various landholders

Skills & Experience

• Tertiary qualifications
• Data centre development experience
• Knowledge of Australian planning and environmental approval frameworks and stakeholder engagement processes
• Proven ability to manage external consultants
• Commercially minded and self-driven
