We’re working with an ambitious and rapidly growing housebuilder that is building a strong reputation across the UK residential development sector. With an exciting pipeline of new developments and a clear appetite for continued growth, they are now looking to appoint a Development Engineer to join their team in Sheffield.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to take the next step in their career and play a key role in delivering high-quality residential developments from acquisition through to completion.

The Role

As Development Engineer, you’ll be responsible for providing technical and engineering support across a portfolio of residential developments, working closely with internal teams, consultants, contractors, local authorities and statutory bodies.

You’ll have a broad remit, including:

• Providing engineering input into new development opportunities and land acquisitions.
• Reviewing and coordinating infrastructure, highways, drainage and earthworks proposals.
• Managing external engineering consultants and ensuring designs are delivered to the required standards.
• Supporting the planning and technical approval process for new developments.
• Coordinating Section 38, Section 104 and other technical agreements with the relevant authorities.
• Reviewing technical information, drawings, specifications and reports.
• Identifying engineering risks and opportunities throughout the development process.
• Supporting the delivery team during construction and resolving technical issues as they arise.
• Monitoring consultant performance, programme and costs.
• Working collaboratively with the land, planning, commercial, construction and development teams.

About You

We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with a practical, commercially minded approach.

You’ll ideally have:

• Experience in a Development Engineer, Technical Engineer or similar role within housebuilding or residential development.
• A good understanding of residential infrastructure, highways and drainage.
• Experience managing external consultants and technical approvals.
• Knowledge of Section 38 and Section 104 agreements.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• The ability to manage multiple developments and priorities simultaneously.
• A proactive approach and the confidence to challenge, problem-solve and find practical solutions.
• Relevant engineering qualifications or professional experience.

Experience within a housebuilder, developer, engineering consultancy or similar residential environment would be advantageous.

Pay: £45,000.00-£65,000.00 per year
