Development & Special Events Intern

Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. From our humble beginnings with one boy’s wish to be a police officer, we have evolved to be one of the world’s leading children’s charities, serving children in every community in the United States and its territories. With the help of generous donors and more than 24,000 volunteers, Make-A-Wish grants more than 25 wishes each day throughout the U.S. and its territories.

Position Summary

• Development & Special Events interns will assist with our special events & fundraising efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assisting with all aspects of special events and thirdparty events
• Data entry utilizing Salesforce, Bidpal, and TeamRaiser
• Soliciting auction items
• Assisting with the logistics for all events
• Editing and updating marketing collateral for all events
• Maintaining event websites
• Researching potential donors
• Cultivating current donor relationships
• Prospecting and cold calling local organizations
• Marketing events through social media
• Donor recognition
• Maintaining files
• Updating calendar of events

Desired Qualifications

• Strong communication, organization, and writing skills.
• High energy level, a professional appearance, and a "gogetter" attitude.
• Must be comfortable speaking on the phone, making cold calls to local organizations, and have a personable and friendly demeanor.
• Attention to detail and the ability to work in a fastpaced, collaborative environment are critical.
• Selfstarter with drive and motivation and the ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Sales and banquetstyle event experience a plus.

Location of Opportunity

• This is an inperson opportunity where you will be working together with our staff in a local coworking space.

Intern Commitment

• Part Time internship (2 days in the office)
• Unpaid position
