Are you an experienced Development Manager who would love to be involved in delivering a unique social housing project?

The Development Manager provides dedicated internal project management and coordination, governance, and oversight of BYS property and infrastructure projects, with an initial focus on the Haven House Brisbane development.

This part-time, 2-year contract role supports effective project planning, risk management, stakeholder coordination, and reporting to ensure projects are delivered in line with BYS strategic objectives, governance requirements, and funding obligations. Reporting to the CEO, the position works across BYS and with external partners to support informed decision-making and successful housing outcomes for young people and young families.

You’ll be a great candidate for this role if you:

  • Have a tertiary qualification in project management, construction, property, engineering, business or a related discipline.
  • Can demonstrate proven success leading complex social, affordable and residential housing projects from concept to completion, ensuring delivery against scope, timelines, budgets, quality standards and strategic objectives.
  • Have strong expertise in project governance, risk management, budgeting, reporting and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to balance competing priorities and drive multiple project streams simultaneously.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams, external partners, consultants and contractors to achieve project goals and deliver successful outcomes.
  • Have extensive hands-on experience across the full residential development lifecycle, including feasibility assessment, planning, design, funding acquisition, construction management and project delivery.
  • Possess highly developed communication skills, with experience preparing executive, Board and project reports, coupled with the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and contribute to collaborative teams.

Given the work that we do there will be a few non-negotiables. You’ll need to be able to have, or obtain prior to commencement:

  • A Working with Children Suitability Card [Blue Card].
  • A National Coordinated Criminal History Check [Police Check].
  • Evidence of vaccination, immunity, or medical exemption for the following preventable diseases - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella [Chicken Pox], and Pertussis [Whooping Cough].
