What they need
Would you like to be part of a vibrant and successful organisation? To feel part of a team that is making a real difference to the lives and communities of Merthyr Tydfil?
The organisation
Here at Merthyr Housing we are passionate about providing quality and well-maintained homes exclusively for people living within the borough of Merthyr Tydfil. We are a community-based Housing Association, providing exceptional services to all our tenants.
We are a small Housing Association, currently managing c.1300 properties, with a turnover of £8m and a staff base of 52. However, we punch well above our weight, particularly with our ambitious development programme. We are a supportive organisation and encourage our colleagues to expand their skills, knowledge and experience as they learn and grow within the Association.
The opportunity
We are keen to expand our Development team, and we are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Development professional, ideally from within the Housing or Construction sector. In this broad role you will assist the Development Manager and other team members with all aspects of the Association's Development Programme from concept to completion, including the acquisition and disposal of property and the maintenance of all manual and computerised records in association with the above programmes.
We are a value led organisation and are passionate about the service we provide to our tenants who are at the heart of everything we do.
The candidate
The successful candidate will be professional, organised, pro-active, and have good project management skills and a can-do attitude. They will also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, allowing them to build positive working relationships and represent Merthyr Housing in a positive way. There will be a need for a keen eye for detail and to manage and exercise quality control over all development projects whilst ensuring health and safety compliance on site.
The successful candidate must have a valid driving licence with access to a vehicle and may be required to have a DBS check.
We recognise the value that diversity can bring to our organisation, and we undertake a review of our staff diversity to identify areas of underrepresentation. We therefore particularly wish to encourage and welcome applications from Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and diverse nationality candidates. At least two candidates from these backgrounds, who also meet the essential criteria will be guaranteed an interview at Stage 1. We identify candidates from these groups by requesting all candidates complete and submit an equality monitoring form with their application. If candidates decline to submit an equality monitoring form, their application will be assessed and shortlisted against the essential criteria alongside everyone else and they may / may not be selected for interview.
If you are interested in applying for this post, please visit our website www.mtha.org.uk where you’ll find a full job description, application form and equality monitoring form. Our website also provides further details on how we approach equality and diversity in recruitment.
All application forms, along with a completed equality monitoring form and covering letter should be emailed to our recruitment email address.
The closing date for applications is midday on Monday 2nd November 2026.
Interviews are currently planned to take place at the Merthyr Housing offices during w/c 16th or 23rd November.
