Developmental Services Worker (DSW) Instructor

Job Summary

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in accordance with the approved curriculum and course objectives.
• Develop and update lesson plans, presentations, assignments, and assessment materials.
• Apply effective teaching strategies that promote critical thinking, practical learning, and student engagement.
• Adapt instructional methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and student needs.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and well-managed virtual classroom environment.
• Design and administer assessments, evaluate student performance, and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Maintain accurate attendance records, grades, course files, and academic documentation.
• Stay current with subject-related knowledge, industry trends, and best teaching practices.
• Promote positive student behaviour, academic integrity, and respectful interactions.
• Comply with college policies, academic standards, grading procedures, and deadlines.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and academic improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with faculty and administration to support student success and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree or Diploma in Developmental Services Worker (DSW), Social Service Worker (SSW), Social Work, or a related field from a Canadian university or an equivalent degree.
• Minimum 2-5 years relevant experience in developmental services, disability support, community services, or a related field.
• 3 years of previous teaching, instructional, training, or facilitation experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of person-centred care, inclusive practices, accessibility, and supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Excellent communication, presentation, virtual classroom management, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in online teaching platforms, virtual classrooms, and digital learning tools (e.g. Moodle).
• Ability to develop lesson plans, learning materials, assignments, and student assessments.
• Ability to engage diverse learners and provide constructive feedback to support student success.
• Strong organizational skills, professionalism, and commitment to academic integrity.
• Ability to work independently and meet teaching schedules, academic deadlines, and college requirements.

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
