Developmental Specialist

Position Overview

The Developmental Specialist delivers integrated development, play-based, and academic support interventions to promote cognitive, emotional, social, motor, and executive functioning development in the clients, using the Mindplus Whole-Self framework. This entry-level role provides direct support to client’s cognitive, emotional, social, motor, and executive functioning development while ensuring fidelity to the MindPlus Whole-Self framework. This role emphasizes the blend of bottom-up and top-down approaches to brain development to support overall brain, behavioral, and developmental wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

1. Intervention Delivery

• Conduct sessions for the following programs:

  • Functional play – targets social-emotional regulation, sensory-motor integration, and self-regulation skills done in individual and group settings
  • Tutorial Program – provide individualized learning support to strengthen literacy, comprehension, executive functioning, and academic readiness.
  • Movement Program – one-on-one sessions utilizing the Mindplus Movement program designed to improve outcomes for sensory, motor, cognitive, and executive functioning.
  • STEPS Program – program solely for clients with ADHD that works on integrating primitive reflexes and improving cognitive functions to target common ADHD symptoms.

• Adapt sessions to individual client needs and abilities.

• Apply MindPlus Whole-Self framework to support holistic brain and body development.

2. Integrating Whole-Self Framework

• Creatively apply the top-down and bottom-up approaches to brain development using the premises of the Mindplus Developmental Section programs.
• Creatively implement developmental and learning plans that integrate cognitive, emotional, and behavioral goals.
• Adapt strategies dynamically based on client response, progress, and Whole-Self principles.
• Collaborate with the Mindplus team and other allied professionals to align play, movement, and academic activities with the child’s developmental trajectory.

4. Parent Coaching & Collaboration

• Provide caregivers with strategies and exercises to reinforce Whole-Self development at home and school.
• Collaborate with therapists, educators, and clinicians to ensure integrated, consistent support across environments.
• Communicate progress and recommendations clearly and professionally to families.

5. Documentation & Progress Monitoring

• Maintain accurate session notes, developmental observations, and academic progress tracking.
• Generate progress summaries and actionable recommendations aligned with Whole-Self goals.

Participate in case conferences to inform interdisciplinary planning and program refinement.
