Job Title: Device & Embedded Systems Architect

Location: Remote – USA

Duration: 6-12 Months contract to start with

Pay Rate: $65/hr. on W2

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Device & Embedded Systems Architect to lead the architecture of Android-based embedded devices, IoT platforms, device management, telemetry, and OTA update infrastructure. This role will define technical standards and architecture for secure, scalable, and maintainable device platforms supporting 100,000+ devices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define architecture for Android-based embedded and IoT device platforms.
• Own Android version lifecycle, BSP management, security patches, and platform upgrades.
• Architect OTA update systems, including staged rollouts, A/B partitioning, rollback, and recovery.
• Design and govern MDM/EMM solutions for large-scale device fleets.
• Architect device telemetry and edge-to-cloud data pipelines.
• Provide architecture for embedded Linux, firmware, device security, and hardware integration.
• Work with ODM/OEM partners, chipset vendors, security, cloud, and engineering teams.

Required Skills:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years in Embedded Systems, Device Software, or Mobile Platform Engineering.
• Strong hands-on Android/AOSP experience, including HAL, system apps, SELinux, Verified Boot, and dm-verity.
• Production experience with OTA update infrastructure.
• MDM/EMM experience managing devices at scale.
• Device telemetry experience with MQTT, CoAP, HTTPS, and cloud ingestion.
• Strong Embedded Linux knowledge, including kernel modules, device trees, and hardware bring-up.
• Experience with BSP, firmware, Android lifecycle, and platform security.
• Strong architecture documentation and technical leadership skills.
