Devops Developer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a DevOps Developer based in India. We are seeking a versatile DevOps Developer with strong backend development skills to support cloud infrastructure, application development, and production operations. In this role, you will maintain and optimize AWS/GCP environments, manage databases and web platforms, and develop reliable applications and integrations. You will work across the technology stack, combining PHP development, infrastructure management, automation, and troubleshooting to improve system performance and reliability. Collaborating with development, QA, and design teams across different regions, you will contribute to both existing platforms and new internal technology solutions. You will also play an important role in maintaining security standards and protecting sensitive healthcare information. This opportunity is ideal for a proactive, hands-on engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges and taking ownership in a collaborative, globally distributed environment.

Accountabilities

• Cloud Infrastructure and DevOps: Maintain, monitor, and improve AWS or GCP infrastructure, Linux servers, databases, and backup systems to ensure availability, security, and reliability.
• Server and Environment Management: Manage Linux environments, WordPress websites, MySQL databases, and web servers using Nginx and Apache. Work with Docker and version control platforms such as GitHub and GitLab.
• Production Support and Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve production incidents, identify root causes, monitor system performance, and implement practical solutions to prevent recurring issues.
• Backend Development: Develop, maintain, and enhance applications using PHP as the primary backend language, including troubleshooting and improving legacy codebases.
• Application and Feature Development: Build new features for internal business and operational tools, contribute to existing applications, and support frontend development using Angular, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and jQuery.
• API Integrations: Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot integrations with third-party services to support reliable data exchange and improve operational workflows.
• Automation and Scripting: Create and maintain PHP and Bash scripts, configure and troubleshoot cron jobs, automate recurring tasks, and improve backup and operational processes.
• Database Management and Optimization: Maintain MySQL databases, optimize queries, investigate performance bottlenecks, and implement improvements that enhance application responsiveness and reliability.
• Security and Compliance: Apply security patches, implement access controls and encryption practices, and follow applicable HIPAA requirements when handling Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Process Improvement and Reporting: Strengthen development and operational processes through automation, coding best practices, and reliability improvements. Create dashboards and reports to support technical and business needs.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with US-based and offshore development, QA, and design teams, communicate technical issues clearly, and coordinate work across time zones.
• End-to-End Ownership: Proactively identify risks, investigate issues independently, recommend effective solutions, and manage technical tasks from initial diagnosis through completion.

Requirements

• Professional Experience: 3–5 years of professional full-stack development experience, including at least 2 years of hands-on PHP development and 1 year of production experience with AWS or GCP.
• Regulated Industry Experience: At least 1 year of experience working in healthcare or another regulated environment, with familiarity with frameworks or standards such as HIPAA, HITRUST, or SOC 2.
• Backend Development: Strong practical knowledge of PHP, including maintaining legacy applications, debugging issues, developing new features, and building integrations.
• Database Expertise: Solid experience with MySQL administration, query optimization, database maintenance, and performance tuning.
• Cloud and DevOps: Hands-on experience with AWS or GCP, Linux server administration, Docker, cron jobs, automated backups, and production troubleshooting.
• Web Technologies: Experience managing WordPress websites and working with Nginx or Apache. Familiarity with Angular, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and jQuery at a basic to intermediate level.
• Automation and Scripting: Proficiency in Bash scripting and experience automating repetitive operational tasks, troubleshooting scheduled jobs, and improving existing workflows.
• Version Control: Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows using GitHub or GitLab.
• Security Awareness: Understanding of secure coding practices, access management, data encryption, and the protection of sensitive information in regulated environments.
• Communication Skills: Good written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Independent Problem-Solving: Ability to investigate unfamiliar issues, identify root causes, and implement straightforward, effective solutions without constant supervision.
• Adaptability and Ownership: Comfortable switching between infrastructure maintenance, backend development, production support, and process optimization while managing priorities effectively.
• Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with distributed teams across different time zones, communicate proactively, and take responsibility for delivering reliable outcomes.
• Preferred Experience: Background in a digital marketing agency or experience supporting marketing and operational technology is an advantage.
• Additional Technical Skills: Familiarity with SEO, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, WordPress page builders such as Elementor or Divi, and platforms such as HubSpot, Monday.com, or Microsoft Teams is beneficial.
