DevOps Engineer

About the team:

You will join an established product and engineering organisation working on a real-world eCommerce and manufacturing platform. We operate with regular releases, automated deployments, and multiple environments, with systems running across cloud-hosted and virtualised environments.

Teams collaborate closely across engineering, UX, QA, DevOps, and delivery, with a shared focus on building stable, high-quality products.

Essential Skills:

• Solid Linux fundamentals; comfortable working with Windows Server.
• Good hands-on experience with at least one scripting language like PowerShell, Bash or Python.
• Good at least one scripting language like Bash, PowerShell or Python.
• Working experience with at least one CI/CD tool like Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
• Working experience with at least one cloud platform like AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Good understanding of Git fundamentals like branching, merging, code review workflows.
• Understanding of web servers and how applications are deployed and served.
• Good communication skills.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with .NET / .NET Core builds and IIS administration.
• Experience with Self-hosted infrastructure
• Databases (SQL Server, MySQL or PostgreSQL) operations.
• Monitoring stacks (Prometheus/Grafana, ELK).
• Docker and containers.
• Infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible).

Principal accountabilities and responsibilities:

• Build, maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines under senior guidance.
• Support releases and deployments across multiple environments.
• Monitor production systems; respond to and escalate alerts.
• Automate routine operational tasks with scripts and tooling.
• Assist with troubleshooting infrastructure and deployment issues.
• Learn our Windows/IIS/.NET production stack through a structured development plan.
• Good documentation

Other requirements:

• Participation in an on-call rota for production incidents (shared across the team, with time back in lieu).
• Occasional planned out-of-hours maintenance windows.

A structured 12-month development plan with a named senior mentor is part of this role. Progress reviews at 3, 6 and 12 months, with a defined path towards platform ownership.
