DevOps Engineer

SMILE UKRAINE is looking for a talented DevOps Engineer.

Job Description

This position requires investigation and resolution of software problems in the company infrastructure, its setup, evolution, and maintenance, with a strong focus on Kubernetes platforms running both self-hosted and in the cloud. Our team works AI-first: Claude Code is an integral part of our daily engineering work, from writing code and manifests to troubleshooting and documentation.

Responsibilities:

• Investigate and resolve software problems of the company infrastructure through established processes and procedures (Helpdesk)
• Operate, upgrade and maintain Kubernetes clusters, both self-hosted and in the cloud (OVHcloud)
• Manage cluster lifecycle and access with Rancher
• Deploy and maintain applications using GitOps practices (ArgoCD)
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration with Ansible
• Set up, scale and maintain CI/CD runners (GitLab Runners)
• Build and maintain monitoring and alerting with the Prometheus / Grafana stack (exporters, alert rules, dashboards)
• Handle occasional tasks on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Work together with the team and external parties in troubleshooting/resolving outages and other incidents to ensure performance and stability
• Maintain technical documentation
• Proactively deal with monitoring alerts

Requirements:

• Work experience as a DevOps / SysOps
• Strong administration experience of Linux and its services using Ansible.
• Hands-on experience operating Kubernetes in production (self-hosted and managed, OVHcloud is a plus)
• Experience with Rancher, ArgoCD, Helm manifests
• Experience in Python and Bash scripting
• Basic knowledge of GCP
• Ability to critically review and validate AI-generated code and configuration before applying it to production
• Good understanding of networking, security, and encryption (routing, SSL/TLS, SSH, IPSEC), VPN solutions (WireGuard, StrongSwan)
• Good knowledge of authentication and authorization services and protocols (OIDC, SAML, Keycloak, SSO, LDAP)
• Good knowledge of monitoring solutions, Prometheus / Grafana stack in particular (PromQL, Alertmanager)
• Good knowledge CI/CD pipelines (GitLab), including setup and maintenance of GitLab Runners
• Good knowledge of virtualization and container technologies (Proxmox, LXC, Docker)
• Understanding of database setup and management (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• Good communication skills
• Good written and spoken English
• Experience with Terraform and Terragrunt (nice to have)
