As our platform continues to evolve, we're looking for a Site Reliability Engineer who enjoys solving large-scale system challenges and building the tooling, automation, and reliability practices that empower every engineering team at Base.

WHAT YOU DO

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you'll help build and operate the reliability foundation behind every product at Base.

Your responsibilities include:

• Design and improve the reliability, scalability, and availability of Base's production platform.
• Build automation that reduces operational work and improves engineering productivity.
• Develop and maintain internal platform tooling for deployment, monitoring, incident response, and operational visibility.
• Improve observability across the platform through logging, metrics, tracing, and dashboards.
• Collaborate with Product and Platform Engineers to improve system resilience, performance, and production readiness.
• Build and optimize CI/CD workflows to enable safer and faster software delivery.
• Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident improvements.
• Define and improve reliability standards including SLI, SLO, and error budget practices.
• Optimize infrastructure utilization and system performance across multiple cloud environments.

This is not a traditional operations role.

You'll write code, automate repetitive work, and engineer solutions that make operating large-scale systems easier and more reliable.

WHO YOU ARE

We're looking for engineers who enjoy solving production problems through engineering rather than manual operations.

Required

• Strong understanding of Linux/Unix systems and Shell scripting.
• Professional experience with one or more programming languages such as Go, Python, Java, PHP, or Node.js.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized environments.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, or hybrid cloud environments.
• Experience building or operating distributed systems in production.
• Good understanding of networking fundamentals, HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, and load balancing.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.

Nice to Have

• Experience with observability tools such as ELK, Kibana, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or similar platforms.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
• Experience with Kafka, Redis, message queues, or event-driven systems.
• Experience improving system reliability through automation, monitoring, and performance optimization.
• Experience working on enterprise software in ERP, Accounting, Finance, or HRM domains is a strong advantage.
