About the Opportunity

We are working with a fast-growing, specialist engineering SME operating within the Defence and National Security sector, looking to expand its technical capabilities with the addition of experienced DevOps and Cloud Engineers .

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly skilled engineering team working on technically challenging, mission-critical programmes, with exposure to modern cloud technologies and secure infrastructure environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy and maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure.
• Develop and manage containerised environments using Kubernetes, EKS and OpenShift.
• Build, maintain and optimise CI/CD pipelines to support efficient software delivery.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation solutions.
• Support the deployment, monitoring and maintenance of applications across secure environments.
• Work closely with Software Engineers, Data Engineers and other technical specialists.
• Identify opportunities to improve platform reliability, performance, security and scalability.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and deployment issues.
• Contribute to technical decisions, engineering standards and continuous improvement.
• Support the delivery of innovative solutions across National Security programmes.

Essential Skills

• Proven commercial experience in a DevOps, Platform Engineering or Cloud Engineering role.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure .
• Experience working with Kubernetes, EKS and/or OpenShift .
• Good understanding of containerisation, cloud-native architecture and deployment processes.
• Experience with CI/CD principles and automated deployment processes.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Understanding of infrastructure security, reliability and automation.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Adaptability and a willingness to learn new technologies.

Desirable Skills

• Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform .
• Docker and container orchestration.
• CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI or GitHub Actions.
• Linux administration and scripting.
• Python, Bash or other automation languages.
• Monitoring and observability tools.
• Experience working within secure, regulated or classified environments.
• Previous exposure to Defence, Government or National Security programmes.
