What they need
Astrolight is on a mission to connect space and Earth using laser communication. We build systems to send data quickly and securely between satellites, ships, and ground stations, especially in places where traditional radio communication fails. Our technology supports both commercial and defense missions and is designed to perform reliably in real-world conditions. We are a fast-growing, fast-moving team focused on bringing fiber-like connectivity to space and beyond.
We are looking for a DevOps Engineer who enjoys combining infrastructure work with hands-on IT administration. You’ll help build and maintain the CI/CD infrastructure our engineers rely on every day. You’ll also own our day-to-day IT environment: users, devices, networks, and access. Working closely with other in-house teams such as software, FPGA, mechanical, optical, and electrical engineers, you’ll make sure they have the tools, environments, and connectivity they need.
What you’ll do
● Maintain and extend our CI/CD pipelines for firmware and software development
● Own the build and release process, including reproducible builds, versioning, and traceable releases
● Set up and maintain automated testing, including hardware-in-the-loop test benches that run our software against real terminals, sensors, and embedded boards, and help keep our infrastructure reproducible and well documented
● Keep build, test, and deployment environments reliable
● Be the first point of contact for internal IT support and troubleshooting
● Manage user lifecycles, including onboarding, offboarding, groups, and access permissions
● Administer our devices and network across the main office, remote sites, and deployed ground stations, monitoring performance, security, and availability, and keeping documentation audit-ready
What we’re looking for
● Experience with Git and a CI/CD system (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar)
● Experience with C/C++ build systems
● Scripting experience, such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell
● A habit of documenting what you do and following through on tasks without close supervision
● Basic networking knowledge: IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and how firewalls work
● Strong critical thinking and engineering judgment
● A strong sense of technical ownership
Nice to have
● Solid hands-on experience administering and working with Linux systems
● Familiarity with Docker and containerized build environments
● Experience with cross-compilation or embedded development
● A degree in engineering, physics, or a related technical field
● Exposure to one or more other engineering domains (e.g., RF, mechanical, electronics, control systems)
What we offer
● Stock options
● Private health insurance after the trial period
● Flexible hours and hybrid work schedule
● Small, experienced team working on cutting-edge space and defense technology
Salary
Range from €3,500–5,500 gross/month, depending on experience and skills.
