DevOps Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps / Automation Engineer to join a high-profile programme. This position requires a strong background in DevOps engineering, automation, and enterprise platform delivery, with specific experience supporting IBM Z environments.

The successful candidate will play a key role in driving DevOps best practices, automating infrastructure and deployment processes, providing technical leadership, and supporting the adoption of modern engineering standards across the organisation.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-scale DevOps and automation solutions.
• Champion DevOps best practices, governance, compliance, and engineering standards across teams.
• Develop and support automation frameworks using Ansible Automation Platform.
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and operational teams to streamline delivery processes.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineers within the team.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and release automation initiatives.
• Integrate tools and platforms through APIs to improve operational efficiency.
• Contribute to platform modernisation initiatives within IBM Z environments.

Essential Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of DevOps engineering experience, including solution design, governance, compliance, and implementation of DevOps best practices.
• Minimum 2 years of experience working within IBM Z environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• GitHub
• Jenkins
• Ansible Automation Platform
• Nexus Repository
• Python
• HashiCorp Vault
• API Integration
• Proven technical leadership experience, including mentoring engineers and promoting engineering best practices.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience working within large enterprise environments.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with zOSMF.
• Experience with zOAU.
• Previous experience within financial services or highly regulated environments.
• Knowledge of enterprise automation and infrastructure modernisation programmes.
