Run and improve the platform that the Wholesale applications depend on. You will own Kubernetes operations, CI/CD, observability and the reliability of Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis, Oracle and MongoDB in production, and lead incident response.
Responsibilities
Operate and scale Kubernetes clusters and workloads: deployments, HPA/VPA, ingress, network policies, RBAC, namespaces, upgrades and capacity planning.
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins or similar) with automated build, test, security scan, artifact and deployment gates.
Manage infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, Helm); drive GitOps-style, repeatable and auditable releases.
Run and tune Kafka (brokers, topics, partitions, consumer lag, retention), RabbitMQ (clusters, queues, DLQs, shovels), and Redis (HA, persistence, memory).
Support Oracle and MongoDB operations with DBAs: backups, restores, replication, failover, patching, slow-query analysis.
Build observability: dashboards, alerts and SLOs using Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk or ELK, and distributed tracing (OpenTelemetry, Jaeger).
Provision and operate workloads on AWS (EKS, EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, CloudWatch) and manage identity integration with Microsoft Entra ID (app registrations, service principals, conditional access, group-based RBAC for Kubernetes and pipelines).
Lead incident response, on-call, post-incident reviews and problem management; maintain runbooks and automate repetitive toil.
Run release, change and environment management (dev, test, staging, prod, DR); perform DR and failover tests.
Partner with Security on vulnerability remediation, certificate and secrets management (Vault or equivalent), and audit evidence.
Required qualifications
5+ years in DevOps, SRE or production operations of Java-based microservices.
Strong Kubernetes experience (CKA or equivalent hands-on); Docker and container registries.
Hands-on AWS (EKS, VPC, IAM, load balancers, CloudWatch) and Microsoft Azure Entra ID administration for SSO, RBAC and service-to-service authentication.
Operational experience with at least three of Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis, Oracle, MongoDB, and working knowledge of the rest.
CI/CD pipeline design; Git branching and release strategies.
Linux administration, networking basics (DNS, TLS, load balancing), and scripting in Bash and Python.
Monitoring, logging and alerting stack experience; incident management and on-call.
Experience using Claude (Claude Code or Claude API) to automate runbooks, log and incident analysis, pipeline authoring and documentation, within company data-handling rules.
Infrastructure as code with Terraform and/or Ansible; Helm.
Preferred qualifications
Telecom or high-availability, high-volume transaction platform experience.
Azure cloud services, service mesh (Istio), Vault, and chaos or resilience testing.
ITIL, change management and compliance evidence experience.
Familiarity with JVM diagnostics (heap and thread dumps, GC tuning).
