Job Overview

RN license and one year Dialysis experience required.

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Dialysis Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in dialysis procedures, patient assessment, and critical care, with a strong focus on delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment. This role requires proficiency with electronic health record systems such as Epic, Cerner, and eClinicalWorks, and familiarity with medical documentation, medication administration, and aseptic techniques. The Dialysis RN will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care for patients undergoing dialysis treatment, including those with complex medical needs such as ICU or trauma center experience. A background in nephrology, long-term care, or hospital medicine is preferred to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Administer dialysis treatments safely and effectively while monitoring patient vital signs and physiological responses.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments before, during, and after procedures to ensure stability and comfort.
  • Manage vascular access devices including catheter care and IV insertions, ensuring aseptic technique at all times.
  • Document all patient interactions accurately using EMR/EHR systems like Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks.
  • Educate patients and their families about dialysis procedures, post-treatment care, and lifestyle adjustments.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals on treatment planning, discharge planning, and case management.
  • Recognize and respond promptly to acute pain or emergent situations such as airway management or ventilator issues.
  • Maintain infection control standards and adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives aligned with NCQA standards and ICD coding practices.
  • Assist in laboratory specimen collection/processing and perform diagnostic evaluations as needed.

Requirements

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with current state licensure.
  • Proven experience in dialysis nursing; additional experience in ICU, trauma centers (Level I/II), or emergency medicine is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth.
  • Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology relevant to nephrology and critical care.
  • Ability to perform complex procedures such as catheterization, tube feeding management, and sterile processing techniques.
  • Experience with medication administration including injections and IV infusion therapies.
  • Competency in patient assessment skills including vital signs monitoring and diagnostic evaluation.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices, HIPAA compliance, and aseptic technique protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with diverse populations including pediatric (neonatal ventilator) or geriatric patients (memory care/dementia).
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team in inpatient or outpatient settings. Join our dedicated healthcare team committed to providing exceptional dialysis care while advancing your professional skills through ongoing education and collaboration within a supportive environment.
