Job Title: Diesel Engine Mechanic / Technician

Reports To: Shop Foreman / Service Manager

​Job Summary

​The Diesel Engine Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and performing scheduled maintenance on medium- and heavy-duty diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. This role ensures all machinery and vehicles meet safety standards and operate at peak efficiency.

​Key Responsibilities

• ​Diagnosis & Troubleshooting: Perform diagnostic tests using electronic diagnostic tools and software to identify engine, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic faults.
• ​Maintenance & Service: Execute routine preventative maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid flushes, tune-ups, and component lubrications.
• ​Repair & Overhaul: Repair, rebuild, or replace defective engine parts, fuel injection systems, transmissions, brake systems, exhaust systems, and emissions controls (DPF, SCR).
• ​System Testing: Test repaired equipment, conduct test runs, and verify that repairs meet manufacturer specifications and safety compliance.
• ​Documentation: Accurate logging of work performed, parts used, labor hours, and maintenance records in the computerized fleet management system.
• ​Safety & Compliance: Maintain a clean, safe working environment; adhere to OSHA standards, environmental guidelines for hazardous waste disposal, and shop safety protocols.

Qualification

• Experience2+ years of hands-on experience as a diesel mechanic or technician
• Licensure Valid Driver’s License
• ToolsMust own a basic set of hand tools and tool box suitable for heavy-duty diesel work
