What they need
Bring Your Experience Into a Shop Built to Support Great Technicians.
Norfolk Power Equipment is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced Diesel / Heavy Equipment Shop Technician to join our Service Team at our Wrentham, MA dealership.
This is not an entry-level position. We’re looking for an experienced technician with strong diagnostic abilities who can take on challenging repairs and see the job through from diagnosis to completion.
You’ll work primarily on Kubota and XCMG construction equipment in our dealership, with access to manufacturer diagnostic tools, technical information, parts support and an experienced service team.
If you’re the technician other people come to when they can’t figure out what’s wrong with a machine, we want to talk to you.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
Our shop technicians work on a wide range of compact and heavy construction equipment, including:
- Excavators
- Compact track loaders

- Wheel loaders
- Tractors
- Diesel engines
- Hydraulic systems
- Electrical and electronic systems
- Emissions and aftertreatment systems
- Drivetrain and powertrain components
- Attachments and auxiliary hydraulic systems
You’ll work on everything from routine repairs and maintenance to complex diagnostics and major component repairs on Kubota and XCMG equipment.
WHAT YOU’LL DO

- Work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
- Work closely with Service Writers, Parts and other technicians to keep jobs moving
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for an experienced technician—not simply a parts changer.
The right technician understands that good diagnostics come before replacing parts.
You should be able to take a customer complaint, inspect the machine, perform the appropriate tests, use schematics and diagnostic information, determine the root cause and make the correct repair.
- Previous diesel and heavy construction equipment experience
- Strong diesel engine diagnostic skills
- Strong hydraulic troubleshooting experience
- Strong electrical diagnostic abilities
- Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Experience using diagnostic software and electronic service tools
- Understanding of modern emissions and aftertreatment systems
- Experience with engine, drivetrain and major component repairs
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Ability to manage repair jobs from diagnosis through completion
- Good communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team
- Strong attention to detail
- Own technician hand tools
DEALERSHIP EXPERIENCE IS A PLUS
Previous experience with Kubota or XCMG is a major plus, but it isn’t required.
We’re interested in experienced technicians coming from construction equipment dealerships, equipment rental companies, fleet operations and other heavy-equipment service environments.
If you’ve worked on equipment from manufacturers such as Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu, CASE, New Holland, Volvo, Bobcat, Takeuchi, Hitachi, JCB or similar brands, we want to hear from you.
Your diagnostic and repair experience can transfer well to our product lines, and we’ll provide the manufacturer-specific training and resources to help you succeed.

If that sounds like the way you work, we should talk.
