Dietary Aide

LECOM Health Corry Memorial Hospital is searching for a full time dietary aide/cafeteria cook to prepare and cook food for customers in the café. The dietary aide/cafeteria cook consults with head cafeteria cook concerning recipes, amounts of food to prepare, food sales costs, and portion size. Handles cash register and counts drawer for daily sales. Performs diversified duties in the kitchen, cafeteria, and dish room areas. May do dishes, put away stock, set up trays for patients, run cash register, prepping food items. Records information per regulations. Assists as needed to expedite workflow in the kitchen, dishwashing areas and cafeteria food line.

• Complies with high standards of food preparation and service.
• Follows Erie County and PA Department of Health Regulations and Standards.
• Maintains sanitation and safety standards. Maintain neat, safe, and sanitary work area at all times.
• Prepares and cooks cafeteria food items, all special orders and luncheons, outpatient orders, observing recipe specifications and food safety. Serve appealing food in proper serving sizes promptly.
• Able to read, follow, and adjust recipes for portion control as needed; and able to modify recipes to meet the needs of cafeteria sales.
• Take inventory of all leftovers, use them in appropriate recipes and cook alternatives when necessary.
• Prepare menu and food items for the next day. Makes coffee. Keeps café stocked for meal service.
• Prepares food items for sale and for the next day’s service; scooping, labeling of food.
• Cleans all equipment, work areas, café tables, chairs per correct cleaning process and procedure
• Maintain neat, safe, and sanitary work area at all times.
• Take inventory of all leftovers, use them in appropriate recipes and cook alternatives when necessary.
• Locking/Unlocking of all coolers and doors in the kitchen/cafeteria areas.
• Record all temperatures in coolers and freezers as needed.
• Assemble patient trays, prepare food carts and transport the carts to the appropriate floors.
• Clear food carts and café trays, perform dish washing tasks.
• Perform heavy cleaning, routine cleaning and non-routine cleaning duties as directed.
• Assist in care and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• Document required records and statistics.
• Restock items in the kitchen. Gets and puts away new stock from delivery trucks.
• Maintain snack levels in each of the floor kitchens.
• Alert Head cooks/supervisor to all problems or needs concerning equipment and food supplies.
• Attend department staff, hospital, and educational meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned within the dietary department.
• May fill in as Cook or Head Cooks as trained.
