Dietary Aide

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dietary Aide to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food service and dietary support, with experience working in assisted living, nursing homes, or hospital settings. As a Dietary Aide, you will play a vital role in preparing and serving nutritious meals tailored to residents' dietary needs while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and customer service. Duties

• Assist with meal preparation and food production in accordance with dietary guidelines and residents’ specific nutritional requirements.
• Serve meals to residents with professionalism, ensuring proper portioning and adherence to safety protocols.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, dishwashers, and food handling tools.
• Support the dietary department by managing manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting of supplies and equipment while practicing safe lifting techniques.
• Adhere to all workplace safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during food handling and cleaning procedures.
• Assist in inventory management by organizing supplies, checking expiration dates, and reporting shortages or issues promptly.
• Work collaboratively with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to accommodate special dietary needs for geriatric patients or residents with specific health conditions.

Requirements

• Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or related healthcare environments is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience in food service, food production, or culinary roles within the food industry or dietetics field.
• Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and safe lifting procedures.
• Ability to work efficiently under time constraints while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills coupled with excellent customer service orientation.
• Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and adhering to dietary requirements for various populations.
• Basic math skills for portioning, measuring ingredients, and managing inventory accurately.
• CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire is preferred but not mandatory.
