Dietary Manager / Lead CookRockwell Senior Living — Milton, Pennsylvania

Full-time | Starting at $17.00 per hour
Schedule: 6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., five days per week
Benefits: Health insurance, dental insurance, 401(k) with employer match, and paid time off

Love cooking meals that make people feel at home?

Rockwell Senior Living is looking for a hands-on Dietary Manager / Lead Cook who takes pride in preparing delicious homestyle meals and keeping a kitchen running smoothly.

We want our residents to look forward to mealtime—homemade soups, tender roasts, roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, flavorful vegetables, seasonal favorites, and delicious desserts. Our goal is familiar, satisfying food prepared with care and served with kindness.

You do not need to be a Certified Dietary Manager. We are looking for strong cooking skills, dependability, organization, and the ability to lead a team.

About the position

This is a working kitchen leadership position—not an office-only management role. You will cook during your scheduled shifts while managing staff schedules, menus, ordering, and daily kitchen operations.

Your regular schedule will be 6**:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., five days per week**. You will also organize and supervise the cooks who prepare evening meals and cover your two scheduled days off.

You will make sure every shift has the recipes, ingredients, preparation instructions, and direction needed to serve consistently good meals.

What you will do

  • Prepare delicious homestyle meals. Cook flavorful, appealing food with an emphasis on homemade favorites and scratch cooking. Check taste, temperature, portions, and presentation before meals are served.
  • Plan menus and prepare the team for each shift. Incorporate resident favorites, variety, and seasonal dishes. Maintain recipes, preparation lists, and clear handoff instructions for evening cooks and staff covering your days off.
  • Schedule and lead the kitchen staff. Create work schedules, assign responsibilities, coordinate coverage, train employees, and follow up to make sure work is completed properly.
  • Manage ordering and inventory. Order food and supplies, keep storage areas organized, rotate inventory, minimize waste, and work within established budgets without sacrificing meal quality.
  • Maintain a clean, safe kitchen. Follow food-handling and sanitation procedures, maintain temperature and cleaning records, and make sure the team follows safe practices.
  • Listen to residents and support their needs. Welcome feedback, learn residents’ preferences, and help make dining enjoyable. Follow prescribed diets, allergy precautions, and texture requirements in coordination with resident-care staff.

What we are looking for

  • Experience preparing meals in a professional kitchen, restaurant, senior living community, school, catering business, or similar setting.
  • The ability to cook for groups, follow and scale recipes, and consistently prepare food that tastes good.
  • Strong organization, reliability, respectful communication, and the confidence to give coworkers clear direction.
  • Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation, along with willingness to complete required workplace training.

Previous supervisory experience is preferred. Experienced cooks ready to take the next step into leadership are encouraged to apply. A Certified Dietary Manager credential is not required.

What we offer

Starting pay of $17.00 per hour, a full-time daytime schedule, and a benefits package that includes health insurance, dental insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan with employer match, and paid time off.

You will have the opportunity to bring your recipes, ideas, and pride in good cooking to a role where your work makes a difference in residents’ daily lives.

Apply through Indeed with your résumé or a description of your relevant cooking and kitchen experience. Tell us about a few homestyle meals you are especially proud to prepare.
